Special ALERT UPDATE: U.S. Border Delays as a Result of Federal Budget Cuts

In a Special Alert sent out earlier this week we advised that as a result of the sequestration cuts that took effect on March 1st the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will be reducing its working hours and cutting back on overtime.

As a result of these cuts CBP estimates that these actions may cause delays up to several hours for truck shipments at land border crossings, increase passenger processing times by approximately 50 percent, and delay container examinations up to 5 days or more at major seaports. As a result of these delays additional charges may apply.
TheMIGroup will continue to monitor this situation and provide you with updates as they become available.
