Shipping NEWS: Push to Prevent Vancouver Drayage Strike
Container truck drivers serving the Port of Metro Vancouver, Canada are threatening to strike if the provincial government does not amend the terms of an agreement negotiated last year.
The truckers say this is the last chance to alter the agreement,
￼which was set to take effect February 1st, 2015.
The strike threat comes at a time when Canadian ports are
￼being used by a growing number of U.S. shippers as a safe haven to avoid what has become chronic congestion at U.S. West Coast ports tied to the still-unresolved longshore labor negotiations.
